An evening at home with her new MULTI-COLORED CHANT CD [link to CD page]can be a transcendant experience. An informal chant event with Chaula is truly heart-opening. A major chant event with the Multi-Colored Chant Ensemble is guarenteed to blow the roof off of your annual meeting, conference, or concert venue.
Kirtan is from a Sanskrit word that means to repeat. Sanskrit is the ancient language of India in which many sacred scriptures of Hinduism, Buddhism, and Yoga sutras were written. It is a vibrational language made up of primordial sounds. Kirtan consists mostly of mantras which are sung in call and response between a leaders "call" and the audiences "response. These chants are easily pronounced and repeated for a long time. The audience gets carried away on an ocean of sound and often bliss associated with the vibrations of this powerful, ancient language. Responsive chanting will often go on for periods upwards of 20 minutes followed by brief periods of silent meditation, during which participants take time to "integrate" their experience.
Ecumenical chanting is very similar to Kirtan except that Chaula brings in chants, prayers, and devotional songs from many world religions and wisdome traditions, including chanting in Sanskrit Hebrew, Arabic, Latin, English, and many wordless chants.
Large-scale concert chanting events are concerts featuring musicians and singers performing the chants in a variety of world music styles, including reggae, Latin, funk, New Age, East Indian, African, etc... Chaula books concert events of various sizes. But her full band, Multi-Colored Chant Ensemble is ten pieces including drumset, percussion, bass, keyboards, guitar, saxophone, and 4 singers. It is a joyous, exuberant event guarenteed to get 'em dancing and singing....the perfect large event for any large festival, conference, annual meeting, or other gathering.
