The Yogic lifestyle provides an excellent opportunity to balance the systems of the body in a holistic way. By improving overall functioning of the body we increase it’s ability to overcome or recover from stress. By identifying the causes of stress we can take action and eliminate sources of unnecessary stress and aggravation.
This workshop is geared towards giving hands on skills that participants can easily take home and use without feeling overwhelmed. Participants learn breathing, visualization, and meditation techniques useful in overcoming such stresses as chronic pain, body tension, and anxiety due to the uncertainties of modern living.
We will examine eating and sleeping habits, exercise, and other factors that influence stress levels and our ability to recover from stress. Participants learn how to improve digestion and elimination and enhance adrenal function, how to cope with insomnia, increase awareness of personal health issues, and improve overall health, outlook, and wellness.
Each session includes portions of lecture, discussion, non-strenuous movement, and ends with a progressive, guided relaxation that will teach participants how to induce the “relaxation response” * on their own, anytime.
*See Dr. Herbert Benson’s book THE RELAXATION RESPONSE”.
This workshop can run from 90 minutes to 10 hours and can be delivered in segments or as a weekend program.
This program is appropriate for couples or singles. All touch is guided by the instructor in a safe and respectful atmosphere.

A gentle workshop for those interested in living fit and Yogic lifestyle. An invitation to move beyond the mechanics of physical fitness by joining the mind and the body in a cooperative, team effort to bring the participant into his or her own fitness “zone” thereby achieving greater relaxation and confidence, enhancing the body’s efficiency, and promoting an all-around feeling of well being in both athletes and exercise neophytes alike.
Participants will learn to employ techniques of Yoga, including breathing, body awareness, and cultivation of witness consciousness, to create a mind / body fitness routine out of their current exercise activities or begin an exercise regimen, using the tools they will learn in this workshop.
The workshop includes instruction on nostril-breathing techniques and their application in the various stages of exercise, i.e. warm up, resting phase, listening phase, warm down phase, and deep relaxation as outlined in the work of John Douillard author of BODY MIND SPORT.
This is an experiential workshop. Participants will be moving, breathing, and experiencing the effects of the techniques in the classroom and will feel some benefits immediately following the class. Naturally, it will take some time, at least a few weeks, at home to incorporate these techniques into their current fitness program, or to begin a program if they are not currently exercising.
No previous Yoga or fitness experience is necessary and the workshop is geared for all fitness levels.
This workshop runs from 90 minutes to an entire weekend.
